Second Stage Round 9: Vienna - St.Poelten 92-81

BSL top team - BC Vienna (27-4) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked UBC St. Poelten (14-17) 92-81. It looked good early as UBC St. Poelten took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Vienna had a 20-14 second period charge getting the lead and UBC St. Poelten was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-92. BC Vienna players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Canadian guard Jahenns-Ley Manigat (186-1991, college: Creighton) nailed 23 points and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international guard Bogic Vujosevic (192-1992) accounted for 21 points and 6 assists. American guard Mike Holton Jr (186-1990, college: St.Michael's) came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Iranian-German point guard Philip Jalalpoor (188-1993, college: UBC, agency: Blacktop Management) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for UBC St. Poelten in the defeat. Four BC Vienna and five UBC St. Poelten players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 27-4 record. UBC St. Poelten lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 17 games lost. BC Vienna will play against league's second-placed Gmunden Swans on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UBC St. Poelten will play against Raiffeisen Flyers Wels and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
