Second Stage Round 9: Vaerlose - Holbaek 104-60
Date: April 12, 2023
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Vaerlose (12-15) smashed at home bottom-ranked Holbaek (3-24) 104-60 on Wednesday. Vaerlose dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Holbaek's 28 and made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Vaerlose forced 25 Holbaek turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Holbaek's players. Point guard Balsa Veljic (184-2000) stepped up and scored 27 points and 7 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and forward Jacob Nielsen (202-2003) chipped in 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Vaerlose players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard William Vang (190-2001) with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Rasmus Moller (202-2002) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vaerlose have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Copenhagen. Newly promoted Holbaek stay dead last with 24 lost games. Vaerlose will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Holbaek will play against Amager (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
