There was no surprise when 18th ranked Bayreuth (5-23) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Chemnitz (12-17) 102-86 on Tuesday. Chemnitz made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Kevin Yebo (207-1996) stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Lithuanian point guard Arnas Velicka (195-1999) chipped in 11 points and 13 assists. American point guard Otis Livingston II (180-1996, college: GMU) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 assists and the other American import Ahmed Hill (196-1995, college: Virginia Tech) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Chemnitz and four Bayreuth players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chemnitz moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Heidelberg. Bayreuth lost their fourth game in a row. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Chemnitz will meet at home higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayreuth will play against Skyliners (#17) in Frankfurt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
