Rather expected game when 18th ranked Schwenningen (5-27) was defeated on the road by sixteenth ranked Science City Jena (12-21) 92-74 on Saturday. Science City Jena outrebounded Schwenningen 32-21 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American center Alex Herrera (206-1992, college: Fort Lewis) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). His fellow American import guard Carlton Guyton (190-1990, college: Kent St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) chipped in 12 points. Four Science City Jena players scored in double figures. Science City Jena's coach Michael Mai used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Jacob Knauf (210-1997) who recorded 22 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Casey Benson (191-1995, college: GCU) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively. Science City Jena moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Duesseldorf. Schwenningen lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. Science City Jena will meet higher ranked Lions (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Schwenningen will play against the league's second-placed Tigers (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
