Rather expected game in Pasvalys where 10th ranked P.Zvaigzdes (7-22) was defeated by seventh ranked Neptunas (14-15) 87-78 on Saturday. Neptunas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-1989) who scored 18 points. Swingman Matas Jogela (201-1998) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. American point guard John Gillon (183-1994, college: Syracuse) produced 23 points and 4 assists and center Martynas Pacevicius (204-1997, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Neptunas and four P.Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Neptunas. They maintain seventh place with 14-15 record. P.Zvaigzdes at the other side keeps the tenth position with 22 games lost. Neptunas will meet bottom-ranked Prienai (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. P.Zvaigzdes will play against Gargzdu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
