Second Stage Round 6: Politekhnik-2 - Sambir 93-88

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Kharkiv where third ranked Politekhnik-2 (4-6) beat second-best Sambir (6-4) 93-88 on Sunday. Sambir trailed by 17 points after 3 quarters before a 26-9 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 88-93 at the end of the game. Politekhnik-2 forced 19 Sambir turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Maksym Mochalov (201-1995) scored 32 points and 9 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Oleksiy Larin (185-2001) chipped in 13 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Sergey Zayets (185-1995) with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists and forward Sergey Roman (204-1992) scored 23 points. Four Politekhnik-2 and five Sambir players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Politekhnik-2 maintains third position with 4-6 record having five points less than leader Krivbas 2. Sambir lost third consecutive game. Sambir at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second place with four games lost.
