There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Chemnitz (14-17) won against on the road higher ranked BG Goettingen (18-13) 81-68 on Monday. Chemnitz made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. American point guard Wes Clark (184-1994, college: Buffalo) fired 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Malik Osborne (206-1998, college: FSU) chipped in 13 points. Four Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Chemnitz's coach Rodrigo Pastore used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Norwegian point guard Harald Frey (188-1997, college: Montana St.) produced 27 points and 4 assists and American Mark Smith (193-1999, college: Kansas St.) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Chemnitz. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bamberg and Rostock. Loser BG Goettingen dropped to the fifth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Ludwigsburg. Chemnitz will meet at home Hamburg Towers (#13) in the next round. BG Goettingen will play against Bayern Muenchen (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
