Regular Season Round 31: Neptunas - Gargzdu 91-86

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Neptunas (16-15) beat 11th ranked Gargzdu (6-25) in Klaipeda 91-86 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Neptunas made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Gargzdu outrebounded Neptunas 39-24 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-1988, agency: Octagon Europe) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 4 assists. Power forward Rokas Gustys (206-1994, college: Hofstra) accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winning side. The former international center Sarunas Beniusis (206-1993, agency: BIG) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-1990) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively for Gargzdu in the defeat. Four Neptunas and five Gargzdu players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Neptunas. They maintain seventh place with 16-15 record. Gargzdu lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 25 games lost. Neptunas will meet higher ranked Juventus (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gargzdu will play against Lietkabelis (#4) and hope to secure a win.
