There was no surprise when 16th ranked MBC (10-23) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked ratiopharm Ulm (18-15) 128-122 on Tuesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. ratiopharm Ulm had a 38-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by MBC's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when ratiopharm Ulm made 7 blocks. The former international Karim Jallow (198-1997) stepped up and scored 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and Brazilian point guard Yago Matheus (175-1999) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. ratiopharm Ulm's coach Anton Gavel allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American point guard Charles Callison (185-1995, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 assists and the other American import guard Mitchell Ballock (196-1998, college: Creighton) scored 24 points and 5 steals. Four ratiopharm Ulm and five MBC players scored in double figures. ratiopharm Ulm maintains seventh place with 18-15 record. MBC lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 23 games lost. ratiopharm Ulm will meet league's leader Telekom Baskets in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MBC will play against Hakro Merlins (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
