There was no surprise when 12th ranked Brose Bamberg (14-19) was crushed at home by second ranked Telekom Baskets (31-2) 102-75 on Thursday. Telekom Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Brose Bamberg's 32. They outrebounded Brose Bamberg 42-29 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Telekom Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American Tyson Ward (198-1997, college: NDSU) stepped up and scored 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Chilean Sebastian Herrera (193-1997) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Patrick Miller (185-1992, college: Tennessee St., agency: Slash Sports) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists and the former international Christian Sengfelder (203-1995, college: Boise St.) scored 16 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the nineteenth consecutive win for Telekom Baskets. They keep a position of league leader. Brose Bamberg lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the twelfth place with 19 games lost. Telekom Baskets will meet at home ratiopharm Ulm (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Brose Bamberg will play against Bayreuth (#18) and hope to secure a win.
