Regular Season Round 33: Rytas - Gargzdu 91-65

Very predictable result in Vilnius where second ranked Rytas (27-6) smashed 11th ranked Gargzdu (6-27) 91-65 on Saturday. Rytas dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Gargzdu's 26 and made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Rytas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Gytis Masiulis (206-1998) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Icelandic point guard Elvar Fridriksson (182-1994, college: Barry) chipped in 13 points, 9 assists and 6 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-1990) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and American point guard Josh Newkirk (185-1994, college: Indiana) added 16 points and 7 assists respectively. Five Rytas and four Gargzdu players scored in double figures. Gargzdu's coach Paulius Juodis gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Rytas. Defending champion maintains second place with 27-6 record behind leader Zalgiris. Gargzdu lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 27 games lost.
