Regular Season Round 27: Besiktas - Bursaspor 93-87

There was an upset in Istanbul where higher ranked Bursaspor (17-11) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Besiktas (9-19) 93-87 on Sunday. It was a great evening for American Allerik Freeman (190-1994, college: NC State) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright (176-1995, college: Arizona) helped adding 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Besiktas' coach Igor Milicic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Onuralp Bitim (196-1999) with 17 points and 5 assists and Montenegrin-American point guard Derek Needham (180-1990, college: Fairfield) scored 12 points and 9 assists. Four Besiktas and five Bursaspor players scored in double figures. Besiktas moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Gaziantep. Loser Bursaspor keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Besiktas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Acibadem.
