Very predictable result when third ranked Mersin (22-8) won against 15th ranked Gemlik (9-21) in Bursa 116-98 on Sunday. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Gemlik's players. Mehmet Kizil (-1996) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American guard Tobin Carberry (193-1991, college: LIU Post) supported him with 18 points and 7 assists. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by Batin Tuna (197-2003) did not help to save the game for Gemlik. American guard Brandon Tabb (193-1995, college: BCU) added 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Mersin maintains third position with 22-8 record having five points less than leader Cagdas BS. Loser Gemlik keeps the fifteenth place with 21 games lost.
