Regular Season Round 1: ETB Miners - Leverkusen 2 103-92

There was no surprise in Essen where Leverkusen 2 was defeated by ETB Miners 103-92 on Saturday. ETB Miners made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Bryant Allen (183-1990, college: Dakota St.) stepped up and scored 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners and Montenegrin center Dzemal Selimovic (205-1999) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side center Jonas Gottschalk (218-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Thomas Michel (200-1995) scored 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five ETB Miners and four Leverkusen 2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. ETB Miners will meet Loewen in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Leverkusen 2 will play against Koeln DTV and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
