Regular Season Round 1: Igdir - Cayirova 57-76

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Igdir at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Cayirova 76-57. Cayirova outrebounded Igdir 48-32 including a 42-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Igdir helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Kendall Smith (190-1995, college: OK State) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Oguz Savas (213-1987) chipped in 6 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Cayirova's coach Fatih Gezer used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Onder Atun (192-2001) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Marlain Veal (175-1996, college: SE Louisiana) scored 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Cayirova is looking forward to face Kapakli Spor in Tekirdag in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Igdir will play on the road against Ankaragucu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
