Very important is a home loss of Gargzdu against Zalgiris on Sunday night. Host Gargzdu was crushed by Zalgiris in Gargzdai 107-55. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Gargzdu's 26. Zalgiris forced 20 Gargzdu turnovers and outrebounded them 31-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Zalgiris players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Gargzdu's players. American Brady Manek (206-1998, college: UNC) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and the former international Arnas Butkevicius (197-1992) chipped in 14 points. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Jaylon Scott (196, college: Charleston) responded with 18 points and Serbian Ivan Gavrilovic (205-1996) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gargzdu will play on the road against Wolves in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
