Seawolves used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Heidelberg 122-113 on Sunday night. Seawolves made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Seawolves outrebounded MLP Academics Heidelberg 50-38 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. Seawolves looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. American players dominated also this game. Point guard Mike Smith (180-1997, college: Michigan) notched 30 points and 6 assists to lead the effort and Derrick Alston Jr (206-1997, college: Boise St.) supported him with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Seawolves' coach Christian Held used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) by swingman Jeffrey Carroll (198-1994, college: OK State) did not help to save the game for MLP Academics Heidelberg. Point guard Mike McGuirl (189-1998, college: Kansas St.) added 10 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals for the guests. Four Seawolves and five MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Seawolves will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against EWE Baskets and hope to win that game.
