Regular Season Round 3: Bonn - Tuebingen 76-88
Date: October 4, 2023
Very expected game in Bonn where Telekom Baskets (1-2) were defeated by Tigers (1-2) 88-76 on Wednesday. Tigers made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Telekom Baskets turnovers. Strangely Telekom Baskets outrebounded Tigers 41-18 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Tigers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican-Panamanian point guard Jhivvan Jackson (183-1998, college: UTSA) who scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Christoph Philipps (203-1998) chipped in 23 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Tigers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Glynn Watson Jr (183-1997, college: Nebraska) who recorded 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Norwegian point guard Harald Frey (188-1997, college: Montana St.) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers will meet at home MLP Academics Heidelberg (#17) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Telekom Baskets will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#9) and hope to win that game.
