Regular Season Round 4: Turgutlu - Mersin G. 73-69

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Mersin G. (0-4) lost to twelfth ranked Turgutlu (2-2) in Manisa 69-73 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Turgutlu made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game, while Mersin G. only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Mersin G. 43-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. Turgutlu looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American center Lauren Ebo (193-2000, college: Notre Dame) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and forward Ozge Karatas (174-1996) supported her with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Even 17 points by guard Asya Ulker (170-2006) did not help to save the game for Mersin G.. Guard Mariya Taser (175-2003, college: UTRGV) added 13 points for lost side. Mersin G.'s coach Halil Demirbilek tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Turgutlu moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Mersin G. still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Cankirispor. Turgutlu will meet higher ranked Bodrum (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mersin G. will play against Bogazici (#12) in Bursa and hopes to get finally their first victory.
