Regular Season Round 6: Muenster 2 - Leverkusen 2 66-78

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Leverkusen 2 (2-5) defeated on the road higher ranked Muenster 2 (3-3) 78-66 on Saturday. Leverkusen 2 had a 39-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Leverkusen 2 made 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was center Jonas Gottschalk (218-1998) who had a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks. Point guard Viktor Frankl-Maus (186-1993) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Leverkusen 2 players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Andrej Koenig (195-1987) who recorded 27 points and 4 assists and Julius Ferber (194-2001) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leverkusen 2 moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Recklinghausen. Muenster 2 lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Salzkotten and Hamm. Leverkusen 2 will meet at home higher ranked Grevenbroich (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Muenster 2 will play against Koeln DTV and hope to secure a win.
