But Artland Dragons were not able to use a home court advantage and were edged by the opponent from Vechta 84-81 on Saturday night. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vechta-2 made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for center Johann Gruenloh (210-2005) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 blocks. Forward Roman Bedime (203-2001) helped adding 17 points and 7 rebounds. Vechta-2's coach Hendrik Gruhn used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Monaco forward Jordan Ratton (203-2001) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American Brandon Thomas (198-1984, college: UMass, agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Vechta-2 and five Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. Vechta-2 will meet Koblenz (#15) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Artland Dragons will play against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven and hope to get finally their first victory.
