Regular Season Round 1: Targu Mures - Sf.Gheorghe 35-114

Very significant was Sf.Gheorghe's 79-point road victory against Targu Mures 114-35. The game without a history. Sf.Gheorghe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Targu Mures to just 6 points in third quarter. Sf.Gheorghe dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Targu Mures' 18. Sf.Gheorghe forced 32 Targu Mures turnovers and outrebounded them 38-21 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sf.Gheorghe players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Targu Mures' players. Serbian center Masa Jankovic (187-2000) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winning side and American guard Morgan Green (175-1996, college: UC Irvine) accounted for 14 points and 10 assists. Five Sf.Gheorghe players scored in double figures. Point guard Georgiana Plavitu (171-1993) came up with 9 points and forward Alexandra Bobar (178-2000) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Targu Mures in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sf.Gheorghe will play against Targoviste at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Targu Mures will play against Cluj Napoca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
