Regular Season Round 3: Metropol Ruhr - Koeln RS 91-77

There was a minor upset when RheinStars Koeln (2-1) lost to Metropol Ruhr (2-1) in Essen 77-91 on Sunday. Metropol Ruhr dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to RheinStars Koeln's 36. Metropol Ruhr forced 33 RheinStars Koeln turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for center Henning Gustrau (199-2005) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Luka Petronic (180-2005) accounted for 10 points, 7 assists and 6 steals for the winning side. Four Metropol Ruhr players scored in double figures. Kenan Reinhart (193-2007) came up with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Konstantin Lehmann added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for RheinStars Koeln in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Metropol Ruhr will meet Duesseldorf (#4) on the road in the next round. RheinStars Koeln will play against Bonn/Rh. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
