There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Mannheim (2-3) beat at home top-ranked SC Wizards (4-1) 76-68 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was naturalized Russian Albert Kuppe (200-1988) who scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Chris Teasley (191-1990, college: VWU) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Teasley is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Miles Mallory (196, college: RMC) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks and Stefan Ilzhoefer (200-1995) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Four SC Wizards players scored in double figures. SC Wizards' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mannheim moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser SC Wizards dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Reutlingen. Mannheim will meet Soeflingen (#7) in the next round. SC Wizards will play against Limburg (#14) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
