Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Mersin (5-1) edged at home 10th ranked Final Spor (2-4) 72-69 on Thursday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Slovenian center Ziga Dimec (210-1993, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and forward Gokhan Yazicioglu (200-1990) supported him with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Even 33 points (!!!) and 5 steals by American guard Deshon Taylor (188-1996, college: Fresno St.) did not help to save the game for Final Spor. Guard Ozan Yilmaz (190-2003) added 7 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Mersin moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Final Spor dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Mersin will meet Fenerbahce 2 (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Final Spor will play against Igdir and hope to secure a win.
