There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Kapakli Spor (3-3) won against on the road one of their biggest challengers Igdir (4-2) 77-73 on Thursday. American center Marvin Jefferson (206-1986, college: Idaho, agency: Interperformances) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Serkan Ozver (206-1990) supported him with 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Kapakli Spor's coach Abdulkadir Serdar used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) by American point guard Marlain Veal (175-1996, college: SE Louisiana) did not help to save the game for Igdir. Cameroonian forward Benoit Mbala (200-1995) added 9 points and 8 rebounds. Kapakli Spor moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Igdir at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Kapakli Spor will meet Bornova (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Igdir will play against Final Spor (#14) in Bursa and hope to secure a win.
