Regular Season Round 4: Oldenburg - Rostock 94-89
Date: October 20, 2023
There was no surprise in Oldenburg where 10th ranked Seawolves (1-2) were defeated by fourth ranked EWE Baskets (3-1) 94-89 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard DeWayne Russell (180-1994, college: GCU) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 assists and power forward Brekkott Chapman (206-1996, college: Weber St.) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. EWE Baskets' coach Pedro Calles used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Derrick Alston Jr (206-1997, college: Boise St.) responded with 19 points and 7 assists and point guard Tyler Nelson (191-1995, college: Fairfield) scored 18 points and 6 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Four EWE Baskets and five Seawolves players scored in double figures. EWE Baskets have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Seawolves dropped to the eleventh position with two games lost. They share it with Ludwigsburg and Bamberg. EWE Baskets will meet Brose Bamberg (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Seawolves will play against Tigers and hope to win that game.
