Regular Season Round 7: Lich Basketball - Giessen 88-57

There was a change at the Regionalliga leadership position after last games. Round 7 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Giessen (4-1). They were crushed by tenth ranked Lich Basketball (3-3) 88-57 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Giessen. Lich Basketball forced 21 Giessen turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for power forward Yannik Ribbecke (197-1997) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. The former international Johannes Lischka (203-1987) helped adding 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side naturalized Serbian Nemanja Nadjfeji (198-2000) responded with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Spanish point guard Miquel Oliva (183-2000) scored 15 points and 5 steals. Giessen's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Lich Basketball moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Salzkotten and Soeflingen. Giessen at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Veitshoechheim. Giessen will play next round against Saarlouis trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Lich Basketball will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Haiterbach on the road.
