Everything could happen in Vilnius at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Stekas and 10th ranked Atletas had identical 2-3 record. This time Stekas used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Kaunas 79-62 on Saturday night. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Stekas made 20 blocks. The best player for the winners was point guard Paulius Semaska (184-1993) who scored 22 points and 6 assists. Swingman Kostas Jonuska (197-1992) chipped in 11 points. Stekas' coach Antanas Vipartas allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was center Petras Piekus (211-2000) who recorded 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and swingman Nojus Vaivada (190-2004) added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Stekas (3-3) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Silute. Loser Atletas dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with Zalgiris II and Kretinga. Stekas will meet higher ranked Palanga (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Atletas will play against Vytis (#13) and hope to secure a win.
