There was a minor upset when higher ranked Falcons (2-2) lost on the road to eleventh ranked Duesseldorf (2-2) 89-82 on Saturday. The winners were led by Swedish forward Craig Lecesne (206-1997, college: SJSU) who scored that evening 21 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Marquill Smith (193-1996, college: UWG) supported him with 16 points. Even a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds by Julius Wolf (205-1993) did not help to save the game for Falcons. American guard Anthony Gaines (193-1998, college: Siena, agency: VM Hoops Agency) added 14 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Duesseldorf moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Falcons. Duesseldorf will meet higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Falcons will play against Titans (#11) in Dresden and hope to secure a win.
