Regular Season Round 6: Siauliai - Gargzdu 79-97

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Gargzdu and 9th ranked Siauliai had identical 1-4 record. But Siauliai was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Gargzdai 97-79 on Sunday night. Gargzdu looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gargzdu made 7 blocks. American forward Nick Ward (203-1997, college: Michigan St.) scored 28 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Ryan Larson (185-2000, college: Charleston) chipped in 16 points, 12 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Four Gargzdu players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Jon Davis (190-1996, college: Charlotte) with 16 points and 5 assists and Slovakian center Tomas Pavelka (218-2000) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gargzdu (2-4) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Neptunas. Siauliai lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Mazeikiai. Gargzdu will meet bottom-ranked P.Zvaigzdes (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Siauliai will play against Mazeikiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
