Regular Season Round 4: Polit-Halychyna - BIPA O. 91-80

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Lviv where tenth ranked Polit-Halychyna (2-4) won against 9th ranked BIPA O. (1-4) 91-80 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Polit-Halychyna. BIPA O. managed to win second period 30-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Polit-Halychyna won last quarter 25-16. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to BIPA O.'s 34. Polit-Halychyna forced 23 BIPA O. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard JaCor Nelson (190-1999, college: Central Mo.) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and point guard Maksym Safonov (190-2003) who added 16 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Polit-Halychyna players scored in double figures. At the losing side Canadian guard Marcus Lewis (193) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Oleksandr Shashkov (185-1990) scored 19 points and 4 assists. BIPA O.'s coach Vadym Pudzyrei tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Polit-Halychyna moved-up to ninth place. BIPA O. lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Polit-Halychyna will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BIPA O. will play against Stariy Lutsk (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
