Regular Season Round 3: Perkunas - Alytaus 115-94

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Perkunas' (1-1) home victory over Alytaus (0-3) in Kaunas 115-94 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Perkunas. Alytaus managed to win third quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perkunas forced 20 Alytaus turnovers and outrebounded them 59-24 including a 29-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Kajus Gerdziunas (195-2007) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists. Point guard Dominykas Grunkis (164-2007) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Perkunas players scored in double figures. Matas Osinskas came up with 25 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and Augustas Maldonis added 12 points and 7 assists respectively for Alytaus in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perkunas will meet VKKM in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alytaus will play against Druskininku (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
