Regular Season Round 2: Merkezefendi - Galatasaray 38-80

Not a big story in a game in Denizl where Merkezefendi was outplayed by Galatasaray 80-38 on Monday. Galatasaray dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Merkezefendi's 22. Galatasaray forced 23 Merkezefendi turnovers and outrebounded them 44-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Rusen Erdem (184-2006) scored 20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Deniz Kocaman (-2006) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Arda Koksal (-2005) responded with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Arda Atay (-2005) scored 7 points and 10 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galatasaray will meet at home Ozel Gelisim Koleji in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Merkezefendi will play against Fenerbahce in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
