Very expected game when 8th ranked Stekas (3-4) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Palanga (6-1) 82-63 on Thursday. Palanga looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Palanga made 24 blocks. It was a great evening for center Tadas Budrys (205-2002) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Robertas Sycius (190-1999, college: Weatherford JC) helped adding 14 points and 4 blocks. Palanga's coach Sandis Buskevics used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side point guard Paulius Semaska (184-1993) responded with 3 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists and guard Lukas Pivoriunas (194-2003) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Palanga. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Jurbarkas. Loser Stekas dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Silute and Zalgiris II. Palanga will meet Silute (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Stekas will play against Kretinga and hope to secure a win.
