Regular Season Round 7: Atletas - Vytis 79-93

Vytis can celebrate finally their first win this season after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Kaunas, where they defeated Atletas (2-5) 93-79 on Thursday. Vytis looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vytis made 18 blocks. It was a great evening for point guard Titas Janusevicius (188-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Deividas Kumelis (188-1995) helped adding 13 points and 9 assists. At the losing side American-French forward Gedeon Dimoke (202-2001) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Julius Liesis (198-1999) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Atletas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vytis (1-4) left bottom position moving up to twelfth place. It was Atletas' third loss in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Kretinga. Vytis will meet at home Neptunas-Akv. (#13) in the next round. Atletas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Zalgiris II.
