Very expected game in Trier where 9th ranked Lions (2-3) were edged by fifth ranked Gladiators (4-1) 73-71 on Friday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gladiators made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Gladiators outrebounded Lions 42-25 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Moritz Krimmer (202-2000) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Marten Linssen (203-1998, college: St.Louis) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Five Gladiators players scored in double figures. Gladiators' coach Don Beck used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Australian point guard Lachlan Dent (184-2000) produced 23 points and point guard Garai Zeeb (187-1997) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Gladiators moved-up to second place, which they share with Hagen and Kirchheim. Loser Lions dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Gladiators will meet at home Bayreuth (#5) in the next round. Lions will play against the league's leader Skyliners (#1) and hope to secure a win.
