Regular Season Round 5: Brasov - Galati 88-82
Date: October 28, 2023
Very expected game when 8th ranked Galati (1-4) lost on the road to third ranked Brasov (4-2) 88-82 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 28-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Brasov forced 26 Galati turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American players dominated the game. Point guard Brandon Anderson (185-1997, college: Brown) nailed 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and swingman CJ Williams (196-1990, college: NC State) accounted for 13 points. Four Brasov players scored in double figures. Brasov's coach Ionut Bascoveanu used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Marlon Ruffin (196-1999, college: Humboldt St., agency: VM Hoops Agency) came up with 23 points and 7 rebounds and forward Shakem Johnson (201-1998, college: Tennessee St.) added 19 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Galati in the defeat. Brasov have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Brasov maintains third place with 4-2 record behind leader Pitesti. Loser Galati keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Brasov will meet Laguna S. (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Galati will play against the league's leader Cluj Napoca and hope to win that game.
