The game between closely ranked teams ended with twelfth ranked Vytis' (2-4) home victory over 13th ranked Neptunas-Akv. (1-7) in Sakiai 107-98 on Saturday. Vytis forced 19 Neptunas-Akv. turnovers. Strangely Neptunas-Akv. outrebounded Vytis 37-20 including a 23-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vytis made 26 blocks. The winners were led by point guard Titas Janusevicius (188-2001) who scored that evening 28 points and Augustinas Mikstas (203-2001, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 17 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists by center Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-1985, college: Virginia) did not help to save the game for Neptunas-Akv.. Guard Kristupas Lesciauskas (190-2005) added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Five Vytis and four Neptunas-Akv. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vytis moved-up to eleventh place. Neptunas-Akv. lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Rytas 2. Vytis will meet at home higher ranked Zalgiris II (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Neptunas-Akv. will play against Rytas 2 (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
