Regular Season Round 3: Ploiesti CSU - Timisoara 2 73-71

There was a small surprise when Ploiesti CSU (1-2) edged at home Timisoara 2 (1-2) 73-71 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-9. But Timisoara 2 won second period 19-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ploiesti CSU forced 23 Timisoara 2 turnovers. It was a great evening for forward Alin Carabulea (-1998) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds. Ionut Neagu helped adding 9 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Mihai Badita (-2003) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Marc Martonfi (-2006) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Timisoara 2 players scored in double figures. Ploiesti CSU will meet at home Steaua B. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Timisoara 2 will play against Craiova 2 (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
