Regular Season Round 7: Bayreuth - Muenster 86-89

A very close game took place in Bayreuth betweenMuenster and Bayreuth . Fifth ranked Muenster (5-2) got a very close victory on the road over 10th ranked Bayreuth (3-4). Muenster managed to escape with a 3-point win 89-86 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Muenster made 32-of-36 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game, while Bayreuth only scored fifteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Bayreuth 42-25 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Cosmo Gruehn (201-1998) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Jasper Guenther (181-1999) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Five Muenster players scored in double figures. Muenster's coach Goetz Rohdewald used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Shane Gatling (188-1998, college: Colorado) came up with 28 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Moritz Plescher (195-2000) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Bayreuth in the defeat. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Muenster . They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Jena. Loser Bayreuth keeps the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Karlsruhe PS.
