Everything went according to plan when fifth rankedMersin (6-3) defeated 15th ranked Kocaeli (2-7) in Izmit 83-68 on Sunday. Mersin dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Kocaeli 's 26. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Forward Gokhan Yazicioglu (200-1990) nailed 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Slovenian center Ziga Dimec (210-1993, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five Mersin players scored in double figures. American guard JaCori Payne (180-1996, college: Columbus St.) came up with 25 points and 5 assists and the other American import forward Keith Stone (206-1997, college: Miami, FL) added 16 points and 15 rebounds respectively for Kocaeli in the defeat. Kocaeli's coach Ahmet Yolcu rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mersin moved-up to third place, which they share with Gaziantep and Haremspor. Loser Kocaeli dropped to the sixteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Bornova.
