Regular Season Round 6: Targu Jiu 2 - RBA Getica 56-81

The biggest surprise of round 6 in Liga I was guestRBA Getica 's (#2) easy road victory over Targu Jiu 2 (#3) 81-56 on Thursday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-56. RBA Getica dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Targu Jiu 2 's 28. RBA Getica forced 20 Targu Jiu 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 47-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was center Marian Cochela (202-2003) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Radu Dumitru (193-2004) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Four RBA Getica players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Flavius Toropu (-2005) who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds and George Pavel (-2002) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. RBA Getica have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted RBA Getica maintains second position with 5-1 record having just one point less than leader Steaua B. which they share with defeated Targu Jiu 2 . Targu Jiu 2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams.
