Regular Season Round 10: Kirchheim - Jena 87-75

The most important game in the last round took place in Kirchheim between second ranked Science City Jena (7-3) and sixth ranked Kirchheim Knights (7-3) on Saturday night. Science City Jena was defeated by Kirchheim Knights on the road 75-87. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Science City Jena. Kirchheim shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Jena's players. 24 personal fouls committed by Jena helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Michael Flowers (185-1999, college: WSU) who helped to win the game recording 32 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import guard Demetrius Ward (188-1990, college: W.Michigan) contributed with 12 points and 7 assists for the winners. Ward is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. American-Syrian guard Amir Hinton (196-1997, college: Shaw) replied with 29 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and the former international point guard Joshiko Saibou (187-1990) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Jena. Science City Jena's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Kirchheim Knights have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Jena. Kirchheim is looking forward to face Trier (#5) on the road in the next round. Jena will play against Koblenz and is hoping to win this game.
