There was a surprise result when tenth rankedPloiesti CSU (2-8) defeated at home higher ranked Targu Jiu 2 (4-6) 78-73 on Sunday. Targu Jiu 2 was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 22-13 charge of Ploiesti CSU, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Targu Jiu 2 turnovers. Bogdan Dumitrescu (-2003) had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Andrei Badicioiu (-2007) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side point guard Alexandru Mitu (-2005) responded with 25 points, 5 assists and 5 steals and Flavius Toropu (-2005) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Ploiesti CSU maintains tenth position with 2-8 record. Targu Jiu 2 lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with Politehnica Iasi and Brasov.
