Regular Season Round 15: Oradea - Ploiesti CSM 92-72

There was no surprise when 8th rankedPloiesti CSM (4-10) was outplayed on the road by first ranked Oradea (12-2) 92-72 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Oradea. Ploiesti CSM managed to win third quarter 23-14 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ploiesti CSM 41-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Oradea looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Catalin Baciu (214-1988, college: Clemson) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American point guard Erick Neal (178-1995, college: UT Arlington) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists. Neal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American Kenney Funderburk (193-1992, college: Columbus St.) who recorded 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian center Veljko Brkic (206-1995) added 14 points respectively. Five Oradea and four Ploiesti CSM players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oradea maintains first place with 12-2 record. Loser Ploiesti CSM keeps the eighth position with ten games lost.
