Regular Season Round 27: Zalgiris II - Stekas 74-75

The most exciting game of round 27 in the NKL took place in Kaunas. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th rankedZalgiris II (13-13) to eighth ranked Stekas (13-13) 75-74 in the game for the sixth place. Stekas forced 20 Zalgiris II turnovers. Strangely Zalgiris II outrebounded Stekas 43-18 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Stekas made 18 blocks. 31 personal fouls committed by Zalgiris II helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for point guard Paulius Semaska (184-1993) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 assists. Mantas Serksnas (200-1996, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 20 points. The best for the losing side was guard Matas Vokietaitis (206-2004) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks and Dominykas Butka (198-2003) scored 12 points. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. Zalgiris II's coach Vytautas Pliauga tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Stekas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zalgiris II and Vilkaviskis.
