Regular Season Round 12: Rm Valcea 2 - Targu Jiu 2 84-75

There was a minor upset in Ramnicu Valcea where 5th ranked Targu Jiu 2 (5-7) was defeated by seventh ranked Rm Valcea 2 (5-7) 84-75 on Sunday. Targu Jiu 2 trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 19-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 75-84 at the end of the game. Rm Valcea 2 forced 19 Targu Jiu 2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rm Valcea 2 made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Andreas Blidaru (183-2006) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Raul Hurdubelea (-2007) who added 18 points during the contest. Rm Valcea 2's coach Darko Pandurovic used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was British guard Andrei Baragan (188-2003) with 21 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Robert Paliciuc (-2004) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Targu Jiu 2 players scored in double figures. Rm Valcea 2 moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Targu Jiu 2. Rm Valcea 2 will meet higher ranked RBA Getica (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Targu Jiu 2 will play against Brasov and hope to secure a win.
