No shocking result in a game when third rankedPloiesti CSM 2 (8-5) beat 9th ranked Stiinta (5-9) in Bucharest 72-63 on Friday. Stiinta trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 18-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 63-72 at the end of the game. Ploiesti CSM 2 made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Stiinta turnovers. Forward Lorenzo Diaconescu (202-2005) notched 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman David Rasoga (187-2008) supported him with 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Even 19 points and 5 steals by Alexandru Pirjolescu (187-2006) did not help to save the game for Stiinta . Alexandru Ionescu (-2003) added 11 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Ploiesti CSM 2 have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Gheorgheni. Stiinta at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Craiova 2.
