Regular Season Round 23: Burhaniye - Urla 77-67

There was a surprise result in Balikesir where fifteenth ranked Burhaniye (6-17) defeated higher ranked Urla (8-14) 77-67 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American center Tearra Banks (188-1995, college: Austin Peay) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Yagmur Yildiz (172-2000) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Angela Tompkins (188-1991, college: Wichita St.) produced a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 5 assists and Irem Tulgar (-1990) added 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Burhaniye moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Bogazici. Loser Urla dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Mersin G.. Burhaniye will meet higher ranked Mersin G. (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Urla will play against Yalova Vip and hope to secure a win.
